Oscars Nominations 2014: The Snubs, Surprises And Not-So-Shocking Nominees Up For Academy Awards This Year

The Oscar nominations are out, but there are few shockers amongst the list.

Everyone expected "American Hustle" and "12 Years a Slave" to bring in the most nominations and they did. "American Hustle" is nominated in 9 categories this year, including Jennifer Lawrence for best Supporting Actress and Best Picture. The film "12 Years a Slave" tails behind with 8 nominations of their own.

However, there were some noticeable snubs for this year's Academy Awards nominees. For one, the critically acclaimed "Lee Daniels' The Butler" was no where in sight of nominations, Emma Thompson didn't receive a nomination for her role in "Saving Mr. Banks", and the controversial "Blackfish" documentary didn't receive any love either.

Still, with Ellen DeGeneres hosting the show this year, the Oscars are sure to be entertaining.

Below are the lists of the 86th Academy Awards nominees, courtesy of IGN. Do you agree with the nominees? Let us know in the comments section below.
