Moto G5 Plus vs. Moto G4 Plus: What are the upgrades made?

Motorola launched two budget smartphones Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. Moto enthusiasts can check the upgrades made in the Moto G5 series over the Moto G4 smartphones. A direct comparison is made below between the newly released Moto G5 Plus and its predecessor Moto G4 Plus Smartphone.

Moto G5 Plus

Design: The Motorola Moto G5 Plus measures 150.2 x 74 x 7.7mm and weighs 155g. The phone sports a metal body with a fingerprint scanner provided in a capacitive button. The mobile features a Moto Z-like camera and comes with Lunar Gray and Fine Gold color options.

The signature Moto "M" symbol can be seen at the back below the camera, which gives the real feel of owning a Motorola Smartphone. The device sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with pixel density of 423ppi. Also, the IPS LCD display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware: Under the hood, Moto G5 Plus comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 chip coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and a support of storage expansion via microSD card. The device is also seen with a 3000mAh battery with TurboPower charging for six hours battery life in 15 minutes. It also features a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, and a fingerprint sensor.

Camera: Moto G5 Plus comes with the "most advanced in class" camera featuring a 12-megapixel Dual autofocus pixels snapper on the rear with an aperture of f/1.7 and 1.4µm pixels. On the front, the Moto G5 Plus has a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with 1.4µm pixels together equipped with an aperture of f/2.2.

Moto G4 Plus

Design: The Motorola Moto G4 Plus measures 153 x 76.6 x 9.8mm and weighs 155g. The phone sports a metal frame with plastic rear and a square front mounted fingerprint scanner. The mobile comes in two color options- Black and white color options and the phone also features the signature Moto "M" symbol at the rear. The device was seen sporting a 5.5-inch display having a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution with a pixel density of 401ppi.

Hardware: The Motorola Moto G4 Plus was seen sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset with paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage or 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

Also, Moto G4 Plus in all the three variants has option of storage expansion via MicroSD. The device features a 3000mAh battery, charged via Micro-USB, a fast charging support, a fingerprint sensor on board and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Camera: The Motorola Moto G4 Plus was seen incorporated with a 16-megapixel rear camera featured with phase detection and laser autofocus with an aperture of f/2.0. The front face of the phone comes with a 5-megapixel f/2.2 front camera with auto-HDR.
