Reports about Carmelo Anthony status next season is headlining the online news as of late. After revealing lately that he was almost being traded last month, latest news is saying that there is a big possibility that it might now happen in the offseason and allegedly he will end up with the Cleveland Cavaliers or Los Angeles Clippers next season.
Carmelo Anthony has been one controversial personality this season. He was very vocal on his frustration about the New York Knicks bad performance from the beginning of the ongoing season which now seems to be resulting in another early exit for them. His disappointment ends up with a rift with Knicks president Phil Jackson that seems to be the reason why he was placed on the trading block last month.
Though Carmelo Anthony was not traded last month due to the no-trade clause in his contract, the intention of the New York Knicks to shift to him to another team is not yet over. The recent move of the Knicks about Melo's playing time appears to be a sign of his impending transfer.
According to ESPN, as the New York Knicks is heading to an early offseason, the coaching staff particularly coach Jeff Hornacek decides to cut Carmelo Anthony's time from now on and will be playing limited minutes in the following games. Melo was already informed about it and he said that he'll try to help the team 'mentoring' while he is not in floor playing.
The move to reduce Carmelo Anthony's playing time and other veteran players allegedly will give opportunity to young players of the team to step up and improve for more with more minutes for them. But speculations are spreading that this could be the chance of the New York Knicks to trade Melo in the offseason and go for a total rebuild next season.
Carmelo Anthony is still under contract with the New York Knicks until 2018-2019 season but he earlier stated that he is willing to waive his no-trade clause if ever he'll be traded either to the Cleveland Cavaliers or Los Angeles Clippers. But don't surprise if this will happen this coming summer.
