Samsung Galaxy S8 Gains Bixby AI and Removes Home Button

Samsung's latest flagship phones have removed their physical home button and introduced a new virtual assistant. The Galaxy S8 is one of the most important launches for the company over the last 10 years. Samsung's Galaxy S8 has been a strong product but it has to deliver a flawless launch to get past its earlier difficulties.

Samsung has been facing certain challenges as the company became stalled in a corruption scandal in its home country. The new features are probably a comeback for them to establish themselves in the market once more. However, they still managed to maintain the best selling handset manufacture for 2016 as a whole.

The new devices will be released on 21 April and it will consist of longer screens, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will measure 5.8 inches and the S8 plus will measure 6.2 inches. The screens are pushed closer to the top and bottom of the handsets. Samsung's logo will no longer be featured on the front and the physical home button is replaced with an on screen icon, as per BBC.

Other features are the pressure sensor and vibration module, it is built into the space behind the new virtual button and is said to provide feedback. Apparently the ratio will make them better to run two applications side by side. Users will be able to watch a video, use a chat application and still have space for a full touch keyboard.

The virtual technology is known as Bixby and it is acquired by some of the original developers of Apple Siri. Bixby will allow 10 built-in applications including messages, weather and gallery to be controlled by voice. It is context aware and users will be able to mix together voice commands and physical controls. Objects and landmarks can be recognized by the phone's camera. With the new changes Samsung is expecting to get a hold on one of its best models.
