According to new rumors the upcoming movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" won't be as racy as E.L. James' novels. The books are known for their steamy, kinky sex scenes. That's one of the reasons so many people fell in love with them. The books tapped into women's fantasies but it's starting to sound like the film adaption will be a lot milder.
According to Sunday People (via The Metro), sources revealed that the sex scenes are going to be cut so the movie won't have an NC-17 rating.
"It's less racy than the book," the source said.
Reportedly Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) and Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) have already shot most of the sex scenes from the book but the studio is deciding whether they should use them or not, the source claims.
In September, screenwriter Kelly Marcel told the Sunday People that she was going to keep the film as racy as possible.
"We are 100 percent going there," she said. "It will be rated NC-17. It will be raunchy."
It was reported that there were some concerns about having an NC-17 rating because anyone under 18 won't be able to see the movie and a lot of movie theater's refuse to carry a movie with that rating. However, Universal Pictures has not announced an official rating yet.
There were also rumors that the movie was going to be condensed from three films to only one. Agencia EFE (via Global Post) claims the production company revealed the news but wouldn't reveal why the film was being downsized.
The site also claimed that producers decided to cancel production in Vancouver because of the weather and relocate to Miami, Fla.
"The downtown Miami skyline looks a lot like a downtown Vancouver," the source said adding that mostly outdoor scenes would be filmed there. "Shooting will shift to Tenerife, one of Spain's Canary Islands, in February for the honeymoon scenes."
Universal Pictures responded to the rumor by pointing fans to an older tweet by E.L. James where she said "Fifty Shades of Grey" would definitely be three separate films.
