Fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" can officially begin counting down to Valentine's Day 2015. Universal Pictures just released the first official movie poster for the movie based on E.L. James' erotic novels.
The poster is simple but engaging and definitely makes us excited to see the movie. In the photo Jamie Dornan's Christian Grey has his back to the camera as he stares out the window at the Seattle skyline.
"Mr. Grey will see you now," the poster reads.
Anastasia Steele (played by Dakota Johnson) is absent from the photo. Personally, I feel Universal nailed the poster. It's great because they didn't give away too much. It's captivating and hard to take your eyes off Dornan. The 31-year-old actor is definitely channeling Christian's personality in the picture - it has sex appeal (he looks great in a suit), he looks like he's in control and it leaves you hoping he'll turn around.
There was some major backlash when the lead roles were announced over the summer. Fans were upset that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunam (the original Christian Grey) were cast. It seems like fans had a warmer reaction to Hunnam's replacement, Jamie Dornan. Because "50 Shades" has such a huge fan-base there has to be a lot of pressure on both Johnson and Dornan.
The 24-year-old actress has rarely spoken publicly about the role but Dornan told Entertainment Weekly back in November that he was confident he could handle the role and was thrilled to suit up as the kinky, troubled billionaire.
"I'm a fairly worldly guy," Dornan said. "I grew up in a very liberal place. I'm not saying we had a playroom, but I'm not shocked by [the sex in the book], it's essential to tell the story. I can't believe films that don't invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me."
