The "Breaking Bad" spinoff "Better Call Saul" just got another cast member. According to Deadline, Jonathan Banks, who played Mike Ehrmantraut on "Breaking Bad," has been signed on as series regular.
Mike was seen as a sort of "fixer," and was constantly cleaning up everybody's mess. He was also the head of security for Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) and eventually became Walter (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse's (Aaron Paul) partner in the meth business.
Banks joined "Breaking Bad" at the end of Season 2 and was a main character until he was murdered by Walter in Season 5. So far Banks and Bob Odenkirk (who plays Saul Goodman) are the only two stars confirmed for the role.
There has been a lot of speculation and talk about which "Breaking Bad" characters would appear in "Better Call Saul." Fans seem to want Gus to also land a part in the new series. "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan told Entertainment Weekly that nothing is set in stone but there is a possibility that fans could see some of their favorite characters from AMC's meth drama appear in the new show.
"I would say the sky's the limit, at least theoretically speaking," he said. "Realistically speaking, we've got a whole of actors, and the world is now well-aware of their wonderful talents and abilities, and therefore 'Breaking Bad' has probably made it tougher for Peter and I to get some of these folks pinned down for another TV show."
"Better Call Saul" is said to be a prequel to "Breaking Bad" and will focus on Saul and his legal practice before he became Walter White's lawyer. He was first introduced in Season 2 when Jesse and Walt hired him to help get their dealer Brandon "Badger" Mayhew out of jail after he was arrested for selling math.
"Better Call Saul" will debut on AMC in November.
