'That Awkward Moment' Review Roundup: Zac Efron's 'Male Chick Flick' Slammed By Critics, But Audiences Are 'Entertained' (TRAILER)

"That Awkward Moment" stars Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan in what's being dubbed as the "male chick flick" genre.

The film is about three best friends attempting to figure out the line between casual dating and a committed relationship. Check out the best snippets of what reviewers had to say and the official trailer below.

The Washington Post gave the film 1.5 out of 4 stars:

"The chief frustration of 'That Awkward Moment' is that everyone in it is so much better than the material: Efron, an acting, singing and dancing triple threat, here squanders his charm, evoking fond memories of the 'High School Musical' movies and '17 Again.' Teller and Jordan may not be as well known (yet), but to get a sense of the prodigious gifts they possess, check out their astonishingly good performances in last year's 'The Spectacular Now' and 'Fruitvale Station,' respectively."

The San Francisco Chronicle called the film "flawed," but "entertaining":

"'That Awkward Moment' is an entertaining movie that, despite some big flaws - especially near the finish - does the hard work of showing two relationships originating and growing. It's an attempt to tell a modern story about how love is done in 2014, and though it ultimately leans too much on genre cliche, it reveals some of the tensions that today's young adults experience in their romantic lives - the impersonality of hook-up culture in collision with the human desire and need for intimacy."

Rotten Tomatoes audience users certified the film fresh with 62 percent rating:

"This movie could have been much funnier with a stronger script. I love all three of the leads and after 3 dark roles from each of them (Jordan in Fruitvale Station, Teller in The Spectacular Now, and Efron in Parkland) it was nice to see them doing a fun movie. It had a few good one liners but it did to much of a roller coster in romance to drama to comedy. One other thing is that the title of the movie is very misleading. There may have been like 3 awkward moments in this movie," one audience user wrote.
