Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson playing John Stewart/Green Lantern in Zack Snyder's sequel to "Man of Steel?" Nothing has been confirmed by Warner Bros. but Johnson's name keeps coming up in the rumor mill.
An Instagram photo (from three months ago) is currently making its rounds on the Internet and is said to contain a clue about Johnson's role in "Batman Vs. Superman." The former WWE wrestler uploaded the photo in November.
According to Batman-News, he's pictured with his trainer but people are more interested in the hashtag at the end of the photo's caption: "#JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermanAss."
Three months ago, the caption probably left most people confused but now with all the casting updates and rumors circulating the Superman/Batman movie, people are wondering if Johnson was hinting at his involvement in the film.
If he is playing Green Lantern, Johnson is definitely not going to come right out and confirm the rumors. When asked about the photo on Twitter recently he replied "All I said was... #LanternCanWhupSuperman."
This isn't the first time he's hinted at landing a role in the film. In December, he confirmed via Twitter that he did have a meeting with DC Comics and Warner Bros. for a 2014 project.
"We just had a big meeting w/Warner Bros CEO re: @DCComics 2014 we will partner up and create the cool bad assery. #RockTalk @ActionTilson."
The only DC Comics movie in production during 2014 is "Batman Vs. Superman" although there has been some rumors that a Justice League film would begin shooting immediately after Snyder's film wraps up.
According to Batman-News, Johnson once again hinted at being involved in a superhero project a few months back when he tweeted a picture of himself with Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara.
"Good hang time w/my bud Kevin Tsujihara (Warner Bros.) Brilliant CEO & guy's guy. We'll do some big cool thing!" he wrote.
What do you think? Is The Rock just playing with Batman fans or is really playing Green Lantern?
