In January, Katie Maloney told Page Six exclusively that her marriage to husband Tom Schwartz was "not perfect," months before rumors of separation began to circulate online.
Before their breakup was official, the couple had to cope with a slew of challenges, including allegations of cheating. Maloney, 35, and Schwartz, 39, married in 2019 after dating for almost a decade - two years after a wedding ceremony that was not legally binding broadcast on "Pump Rules."
However, it's unclear whether Maloney's recent choice to remove her wedding ring is related to her current relationship status with Schwartz. After Maloney tweeted a sparkler-free selfie with bestie and former Bravo co-star Stassi Schroeder over the weekend, social media erupted with rumors of a breakup.
One fan replied on twitter, "I hope Tom and Katie aren't getting divorced because I adore them together," as per PageSix. When Tom reportedly cheated on Katie, it became one of the primary challenges in their marriage. Lala Kent alleged Tom cheated on Katie on a 2018 episode of Vanderpump Rules.
"Let's speak about married people cheating," Lala advised the show's female stars after Katie remarked Lala's partner kissing someone else. While Katie was out of town, Lala Kent said Tom got "hammered" and made out with her friend Allie. The charges caught Tom off guard, and he denied cheating on Katie with Lala's friend.
Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz also had trouble conceiving throughout their pregnancy, which caused issues in their relationship. Maloney proposed to her husband after multiple failed efforts at conception that he have his sperm checked in a Bravo episode from 2021.
Why 'Vanderpump Rules' Couple Break Up?
Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz recounted their previous decision to have an abortion during the early days of their relationship when things weren't "great" when they went to see a doctor about infertility difficulties.
Katie Maloney's drinking was also a problem in their marriage. Scheana Shay, 36, questioned Katie Maloney about her drinking at a 2017 Vanderpump Rules reunion. Despite Katie's denials of Scheana's "foul" accusations, the 36-year-old proceeded to accuse her of having a drinking problem that is severely affecting her life.
Schwartz has been known to behave out while under the influence of alcohol, notwithstanding Katie's apparent drinking issues. During a 2020 episode of the program, he grew enraged after a hoax in which Tom Schwartz was falsely jailed for mischief. Schwartz was irritated by his wife's inability to appreciate the humor in the situation.
"This is why I don't have sex with her," he stated drunkenly while disputing over the argument. Fans have been able to hear surprising revelations about Tom and Katie's marriage as Bravo cameras have recorded them bickering over the years, The Sun reported.
Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney Spotted on the Same Party Amid Split Rumor
Meanwhile, amid reports of a breakup, Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney attended the same party in West Hollywood over the weekend.
The married pair, along with a plethora of other notable faces, were celebrating TV producer/writer Phoebe Fisher's birthday at Schwartz's famed bar Tom Tom. Star Trek's Zachary Quinto and Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka were among the guests.
Despite the imminent split rumors, Schwartz was still wearing his wedding band at the celebration. Maloney's hands were hidden in both of Fisher's photographs, making it impossible to see if she was wearing her own.
On Friday, March 11, Maloney posted a ringless selfie of herself on Instagram, sparking speculation that the couple's marriage was coming to an end, according to Daily Mail.
