On Thursday, during his $100 million defamation trial in Virginia, Johnny Depp's disturbing messages about his ex-wife Amber Heard were read aloud in court.
Amber Heard's lawyer, Benjamin Rottenborn, cross-examined the actor, who was shown a series of graphic and violent text conversations in which Johnny Depp discussed "burning" and "drowning" the actress, with his pal, actor Paul Bettany, in Fairfax County Court.
Johnny Depp Texts About "Drowning" Amber Heard
Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for libel after she wrote an article in The Washington Post in 2018 that his lawyers claim falsely indicates he physically and sexually assaulted her. Rottenborn revealed messages Johnny sent to Paul on June 11, 2013, during cross-examination, as per Mirror.
The actor stated he had drunk "all night" before picking up Amber to fly to Los Angeles in a later conversation with Bettany, which was also displayed to the court. Rottenborn questioned the actor if he met the criteria of a "southern gentleman" before presenting the texts.
Rottenborn reminded Johnny Depp on Wednesday that the action was not initiated because of anything the actress had done previous to writing the piece. Furthermore, in frightening audio presented at their multi-million dollar defamation trial, Amber Heard implored Johnny Depp not to cut himself two months after filing for divorce from the movie star.

Amber Heard Gets Emotional
Heard became tearful when the audio of Depp imploring her to cut him with a knife was played to the Virginia jury, while he also wiped his tears and grabbed a tissue. The knife in question was etched in Spanish with the words "Until death," as well as "Slim," Depp's nickname for his ex-wife, as per The Independent. The trial is taking place in Fairfax, Virginia, since the newspaper's online version is hosted there.
Although she did not identify him, his attorneys believe that her claims have made it impossible for him to get film jobs, thereby transforming him from 'Cinderella to Quasimodo' in Hollywood, as the Pirates of the Caribbean star put it. Heard's legal team is attempting to depict Depp as an out-of-control drinker and drug addict, while Depp claims that his ex-wife was the aggressor during their tumultuous relationship.
Depp said in court that she bullied him, called him names, threatened to hurt herself if he left her, and used heavy narcotics during their marriage. Depp remembered how Heard informed him that his two daughters, Lily-Rose Depp, and son John Christopher 'Jack' Depp III rejected him and that he was a "bad father."
Per Daily Mail, Depp said that the fact was that Heard was disliked by his children. To refute this accusation, Heard's lawyers produced an email Depp sent to Elton John in 2013, in which he complained about Paradis, a French model and actress with who he was with for 14 years from 1998 to 2012.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor told Elton John in an email that his mother was recovering from a health problem, that his children had "fallen head over heels" for Heard, and that his ex was attempting to "brainwash his children against him."
