"Star Wars Episode 7" will reportedly begin filming sooner tan expected, according Hitfix.
Sources close to the production revealed to the entertainment site cast and crew are expected to report on set by mid-May and filming should be over by September of this year.
"Most principal casting on the film is complete, with many announcements still to come," HitFix reports. "While [J.J.] Abrams had mentioned May during the TCA press tour and there had been speculation about the summer date, the full production schedule was finally confirmed for us."
The "Star Wars" camp has yet to confirm any casting announcements for the film, but many actors have been linked to the production. Actor Alex Pettyfer recently addressed rumors of his connection to the film to ComingSoon.net.
"If I was a part of 'Star Wars,' I don't know if I would speak on set," Pettyfer told Coming Soon. "I'm more of a fanboy."
Pettyfer went on to explain he'd rather watch the "Star Wars" films than be on set of one.
"Those things, it's very weird for me, like I sometimes would prefer not to be a part of it, not in any disregard or disrespect, just because I'm such a lover of film -- to watch something like that is much more enjoyable for me," Pettyfer added.
"Star Wars Episode 7" director J.J. Abrams recently told The Daily Telegraph he is glad no casting or plot information regarding the upcoming film has leaked. He described the lengths his team will go to in order to protect the film's script.
"My office... I'm working on the Star Wars script today and the people in my office have covered up all my windows with black paper...I guess they wanted to make sure no one could see what I was doing. It seems rather extreme," Abrams explained to the Telegraph.
"Star Wars is in every way a different animal. It's always been a more open, fan-engaged universe than I've been used to, so I'm sure there'll be some sort of compromise," Abrams added. "But it feels to me like there's a purity in not knowing every little thing."
"Star Wars Episode 7" is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
