"Avengers: Age of Ultron" has reportedly begun filming in Johannesburg, South Africa.
"The great thing about this movie is that they are shooting Johannesburg as Johannesburg. Often you will find filmmakers will shoot in Johannesburg and portray the location as Los Angeles. This time around the first 10 minutes of the film will be of Johannesburg," Gauteng Film Commission's (GFC) Desmond Mthembu, told Eyewitness News.
Johannesburg's mayor is glad the "Avengers" sequel decided to bring their production to the country.
"It's good for the economy and it's good for filmmaking and the film industry in South Africa," the mayor's spokesperson, Fred Mokoko, told EWN.
The filming news comes on the heels of Paul Bettany's reported addition to the "Avengers" cast. According to The Wrap, Bettany is slated to take on the role of will take The Vision in Marvel's upcoming sequel. Marvel has yet to confirm the casting news, but multiple reports say Bettany was spotted on set.
"The casting of Bettany has been shrouded in secrecy, but he was spotted at Shepperton on Monday. The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is code-named After Party . . . or at least it was," the Daily Mail reports.
The Vision is an important part of "The Avengers: Age Of Ultron".
"Vision is also an integral part of Marvel's 'Age of Ultron' comic series (upon which the summer 2015 movie is, at best, very loosely constructed). In that series, Ultron wreaks unspeakable devastation upon the Earth, kills several superheroes and is on the brink of achieving ultimate destruction; the Vision is Ultron's mouthpiece, and brokers a key swap with the surviving Avengers," TheWrap reports.
Marvel hasn't mentioned anything about the superhero Ms. Marvel, but inside sources told the Latino Review her character will make an appearance. However, Marvel has not confirmed Ms. Marvel will be featured in the film.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is slated to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
