Following his notorious slap at Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, Will Smith has sought therapy.
According to a source who talked to Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, Smith, 53, has been in therapy since the Oscars incident. He made international headlines for his outburst at the 57-year-old comedian at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, on March 27.
Will Smith Is Going to Therapy
After Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, in allusion to the 1997 film in which Demi Moore had a shaved head, Smith stepped on stage and hit Rock. Then, Smith returned to his seat and yelled at Rock again.
Later that evening, Smith apologized to the Academy and other candidates in his acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as tennis father Richard Williams in King Richard, but he made no mention of Chris Rock.
In a statement announcing his resignation from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on April 1, the Men in Black star alluded to Chris Rock (which later banned him from the Oscars for 10 years).
Will Smith has kept a quiet profile since the Oscars, and he was last spotted on April 23 in Mumbai, India, where he was reportedly focusing on spirituality, yoga, and meditation, according to People.
A source added last month that Smith had yet to personally contact Chris Rock following the Academy Awards, raising doubts about Smith's travel to India.
Chris Rock has remained silent about the Oscars incident with Smith, mentioning it briefly at a few comedy events on his current stand-up tour but not delving into the details.
The Emmy-winning comedian was in attendance at the Netflix Is a Joke event at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, when comedian Dave Chappelle was assaulted onstage by a 23-year-old guy named Isaiah Lee, who was armed with a counterfeit revolver with a huge fold-out blade. (In the attack, Lee was detained on suspicion of assault with a dangerous weapon.)
After the startling encounter, Rock came to the microphone and questioned, "Was that Will Smith?" The audience erupted in applause. Smith's appearance on David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, which was taped before the Oscars, will be available on Netflix later this month, as per Daily Mail.
Will Smith Is Scared of Jada Pinkett Smith
We now have additional information regarding Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's impending divorce, according to new reports that have gained a lot of traction in the last 24 hours. However, when we learn more about this case, we can immediately identify who is the most worrying side that opposes the divorce.
Jada Pinkett Smith has already stated that she never desired a traditional marriage in the first place. Will Smith encouraged her to follow that lifestyle, but her relationship with August Alsina reveals she was never truly fulfilled by Will Smith's side. However, the slapping incident has thrown the marriage into overdrive, with the actor being forced to travel to India for a spiritual awakening.
According to The National Enquirer, Jada Pinkett Smith encouraged Will Smith to seek professional treatment on the night of the Oscars. Pinkett Smith allegedly drew a line and informed Will that either he gets assistance or they're done, according to a close source quoted by the news site.
"Why isn't it that simple to seek a divorce if they're having such a bad time in their relationship and have suffered so much when they're together? Even if they split their inheritance in half, they'd be financially secure for the rest of their lives." The strongest indication as to why the pair hasn't broken up is an old Will Smith video interview.
Will Smith's marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith is revealed in a video at the premiere of his film 'Concussion.' He publicly acknowledges that they have both endured and gone through the most harrowing experience of their life. He continues to emphasize, though, that they are not quitters. That is to say, he is most likely the one who is hell-bent on preserving the marriage.
However, the recent Oscars ceremony sent everyone into a state of high alert. Smith is terrified of being labeled a divorced man, but he does not know that divorce is one of the most popular activities in the twenty-first century, Marca reported.
