Thousands of Americans might soon qualify for a $1,000 stimulus payment, and there is only one day left to apply.

If you apply in time, you might receive your money as early as this summer. New Mexico residents have 5 pm until May 31 to apply for financial assistance.

New Mexico To Send $1,000 Stimulus Checks

Millions of dollars have been put aside to assist offset the expenses of inflation, but only certain households qualify. The applications started on May 2 and will close in one day.

You must fulfill the following requirements if you do not submit taxes. Homes with one or more dependents may be eligible for a $1,000 payment. Households with no dependents are eligible for $500. Households including the elderly or individuals with disabilities may be eligible. A total of $20 million has been made aside, particularly for nonfilers. If money is depleted before May 31, applications will be closed early, Fingerlakes1 reported.

New Stimulus Payments in Maine

New relief payments will be sent in a couple of days to a select few. The fortunate few are Maine residents, with individual checks totaling $850 or $1,700 for households. Gov. Janet Mills signed a $1.2 billion budget into law that supports the payments, meaning the money may be distributed as soon as June 1. It comes as such relief checks have been much more targeted this year since comparable government payouts to millions of Americans will cease entirely at the end of 2021.

The first set of relief funds will be issued in June, according to the state. They will be distributed on a rolling basis till the end of the year. More checks will be issued when more people file their state tax forms.

That final element, by the way, is critical to emphasize. Filing a 2021 Maine individual income tax return will establish eligibility for one of the $850 relief cheques. Residents in Maine have until October 31, 2022, to file such returns, as per BGR.

Meanwhile, the Mills administration established a website, Maine.gov/reliefchecks, in April. It addresses questions concerning the relief checks, such as who is qualified for them. The following are the requirements:

  • Those who qualify must have a federal adjusted gross income of less than $100,000 if filing alone or married and filing separately; $150,000 if filing as head of household; or $200,000 if filing jointly.

  • Eligibility is also contingent on submitting a 2021 Maine individual income tax return as a full-time Maine resident by October 31, 2022.

Colorado Stimulus Checks

Meanwhile, Coloradans may receive a $400 stimulus check in the form of a refund this summer, as announced by Governor Jared Polis and state lawmakers as part of the state's Democratic governor's attempts to provide immediate assistance to its inhabitants.

Prices continue to spiral out of control, with inflation reaching a 40-year high of 8.5 percent in March and remaining over the 8 percent threshold. However, some have slammed the decision as a shady ploy to attract voters during an election year.

This refund is available to over 3.1 million citizens of the state. They are those that filed their 2021 income tax forms by May 31st of this year. The stimulus payout is set at $400 for single taxpayers and doubles for married couples filing jointly.

The financing for the stimulus payments to be sent to Colorado citizens is not new. The state is instead required by the Coloradan Taxpayer Bill of Rights to refund the sum. The measure was narrowly approved by voters in 1992, and the TABOR needs public approval before any tax increase is permitted.

TABOR's fundamental goal is to limit the rise of government participation to expand the population, as well as what the state's annual Consumer Price Index was the previous year. The Denver-Boulder CPI is a measure of inflation in the state.

In practice, this means that the government could only grow through population growth and inflation. That would essentially cover all high-spending expenses such as Medicaid, schools, higher education, and prisons for the next year with a minor rise in spending.

Taxpayers will receive their TABOR return a year later, in the spring of next year, according to current legislation. However, Governor Polis intends to change the current plan and give cash to tax filers in August 2022 instead. There are two months until the November elections, and campaign commercials will begin reaching voters via social media, phones, computer displays, television, and mailings.

In a statement, Colorado Governor Jared Polis stated that citizens are being forced to pay more for basic needs such as fuel, rent, and food for no reason. He stated that instead of the state government keeping funds earned by inhabitants of the state, the administration wants to return the largest amount feasible to the people, according to Digital Market News.
