Johnny Depp took to TikTok after his defamation trial victory to thank his supporters and declare that they are moving forward. However, his ex-wife Amber Heard was upset about it.
On Tuesday, the 58-year-old actor shared a video compilation on the network, where he has more than 5.1 million followers, showing him arriving at the courts surrounded by fans.
Following that, Johnny Depp's TikTok shows clips of him playing guitar on stage with his friend Jeff Beck's band, according to a report from People.
Johnny Depp told his fans: "To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We've been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared."
The Pirates of the Caribbean star continued: "And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD."
The Johnny Depp TikTok video was viewed 200,000 times in the first few minutes of being online, per Daily Mail.
Amber Heard Blasts Depp's TikTok Video
In response to Depp's TikTok clip, Amber Heard issued a statement.
"As Johnny Depp says he's 'moving forward,' women's rights are moving backward," the Aquaman actress stated.
"The verdict's message to victims of domestic violence is ... be afraid to stand up and speak out," she added.
Last Wednesday, following the revelation of the verdict, Head said that the disappointment she felt was "beyond words."
"I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband."
"I'm even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously."
The trial lasted several months, and TikTok fans enjoyed every minute of it. Over his ex-wife, Depp was the clear favorite and dominated hashtags and trends.
The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages after 13 hours of deliberation, which the court reduced to $350,000 according to the state's limit. Heard was given $2 million in compensatory damages after countersuing Depp for $100 million.
Impact of the High-Profile Trial
On June 1, Depp expressed his displeasure with the court's decision on his Facebook and Instagram profiles. He said the allegations affected him a lot, per E! News.
"False, very serious, and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career," the actor wrote.
Later on, Depp said that the purpose of his case against Heard was "to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome."
Heard's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, claimed on Today on June 2 that her client was "demonized" during the high-profile trial, adding that there were several "evidentiary issues" and "there was so much evidence that did not come in."
Bredehoft said Heard "definitely" intends to appeal the June 1 ruling.
