Howard Stern Plans To Run for President in 2024 Election
"I'm going to probably have to run for president now," the SiriusXM host remarked on 'The Howard Stern Show on Monday. Stern has previously thrown his hat into the political ring. He ran for governor of New York in 1994, according to Fox News.
During Wednesday's broadcast, he stated that Cooper, 47, came out to him and congratulated him on his future Presidential run when Stern asked if he'd be his running mate, to which Cooper reportedly agreed right away. When his veteran co-host Robin Quivers questioned whether he had given it "much consideration," he said, "I gave as much deliberation as I did tossing my hat in the ring: absolutely none," which made Quivers giggle.
Stern claimed that he was shocked that Cooper wanted in, with Quivers questioning if this guy should live with them, but Stern stated he didn't want to be disturbed because he was filming a movie.
Quivers also mentioned that when former Hollywood actor-turned-California governor Ronald Reagan ran for President, 'they were like, "That's the guy who acted with a chimp," and now we're going to have a guy who's played a raccoon,' referring to Cooper's role as Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy films.
Cooper, according to Stern, "didn't even hesitate" to say yes, adding, "He's a wonderful patriot and a fantastic raccoon. That is our campaign theme," as per Daily Mail.
Is Howard Stern Serious With His Presidential Bid?
Stern previously ran for governor of New York in 1994 on the Libertarian Party's ticket, thus this would not be his first journey into politics. The US Supreme Court dramatically repealed Roe v Wade this week, removing the basic right to abortion. Following the reversal, a wave of celebrities denounced the ruling and attacked the Supreme Court judges on numerous media. A few days ago, popular DJ Howard Stern uniquely responded to the reversal, stating that he will run for president in 2024 to "make the country fair again."
A few days following his odd desire, he received backing from his friend Bradley Cooper, who will be his running companion. During the broadcast, he also revealed that the Oscar-winning actor will be his running mate for Vice President. It is uncertain whether Stern intends to run for president in 2024, WIO News reported.
Stern has not made clear how seriously he takes a potential presidential bid. But Stern's longtime friend and colleague George Takei spoke with PEOPLE about the possibility of Stern running for president. If Stern were to run for president, Takei, 85, said, "I think he has presidential characteristics; I would vote for him because, depending on who else is running, he does [has] knowledge, boldness, and charisma."
"He played a huge part in our being recognized as a couple, mutually reliant, and able to do what we do because of our relationship," Takei added. "And Howard is a longtime friend for me." Stern has long supported Takei and Brad's marriage.
