Joe Biden Fires Back at Reporter Over 2024 Presidential Run Question: “They Want Me To Run”

President Joe Biden became upset and approached the reporter after being questioned about a recent poll showing that the majority of Democrats do not want him to compete for reelection in 2024.

According to a New York Times survey, over two-thirds of Democrats do not want Biden to run again, and Biden paused in his tracks, telling the reporter, "they want me to run" and for him to "read the polls."

Biden Claims Democrats Want Him To Run For 2024 Election

The interviewer repeated once more that most Democrats do not want Biden to run for president in 2024, to which Biden responded that it was precisely the opposite. Both parties reiterated their respective viewpoints to one another.

The discussion arises as a result of various polls in the media indicating that Biden is unpopular with Americans, especially members of his party. The information given by Biden and the reporter is based on a study conducted by the New York Times and Sienna College between July 5 and 7.

In this example, the reporter's estimate that the majority of Democrats, or around two-thirds, do not want Biden to run for president again in two years was correct. According to the poll, a staggering 64% of Democratic voters feel that someone else should be elected president in 2024.

While Biden's score of 92 percent appears in the survey, it has nothing to do with whether or not he should run for president in 2024. In reality, the number relates to the fact that in a hypothetical rematch against former President Donald Trump, 92 percent of Democrats would still favor Biden, Fox News reported.

Biden has been tormented by a downpour of disappointing surveys as his administration deals with a range of concerns, including high gas prices, inflation, and the consequences of reversing precedents established in Roe v. Wade.

Democrats' concerns about Biden have become louder in recent weeks, while other Democrats, notably California Governor Gavin Newsom, have begun to develop buzz for the year 2024.

Democrats Concerned About Biden's Age

Democrats, notably former President Barack Obama's senior political strategist David Axelrod, have expressed alarm over Biden's age. At 79 years old, he is the oldest president in American history, and he will be 82 when his second term begins, as per Washington Examiner via MSN.

In the ad, Biden asserts that "92 percent of Democrats would vote for me if I ran," which is correct.

However, respondents were asked if the election was conducted today and the alternatives were Joe Biden, Donald Trump, another candidate, or not going to vote/wouldn't vote if those were the possibilities.

It's interesting thinking about how that statistic may alter if the opponent wasn't as controversial as Trump, or if other prospective Democratic contenders, like Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama, were identified.

The survey was also misinterpreted by the White House. According to Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, "92 percent of Democrats support this president," which, as previously stated, is not exactly what those polled were asked.

Other findings from the New York Times survey revealed that Biden may lose a considerable percentage of Black votes, with 47 percent wanting a new Democratic nominee compared to 43 percent supporting him. Younger voters preferred a different candidate as well, with 94 percent of those under 30 choosing a different choice, according to Newsweek via MSN.
