The US lagging in UN dues opened an advantage for China to overshadow Washington in the international body. The US representative said that Beijing is clanging the US standing on many issues.

US Less Influence in the UN

According to Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US is billions of dollars behind its UN obligations, undermining Washington's ability to influence the international body, reported RT.

She reminded parliamentarians that although the American delegation has resisted attempts to shame it over the matter, it has given China a chance. The US representative said that Beijing is challenging the US position on many issues.

On Wednesday morning, Thomas-Greenfield and USAID Administrator Samantha Power spoke before the committee. The main focus of their testimony was global food security, and the majority of the questions focused on grain exports from Russia and Ukraine that had been delayed due to the conflict.

However, Senator Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) raised the subject of the US debt around midway through the hearing, noted Mass News.

Thomas-Greenfield said the concern of dues limits the ability of the US to influence actions in the UN. The US is reminded that it owes a lot but is not ashamed that the unpaid UN dues are not settled yet, compared to other nations with less debt.

Noted that Beijing can support positions for roughly 400 young professionals at the UN, whereas the US cannot, in reaction to Murphy's comment that these left opportunities for China or Russia to have talking points over Washington.

Thomas-Greenfield responded to Murphy's suggestion that this left openings for China or Russia, citing Hi India.

The US envoy complained that the Chinese take advantage of gaps, implying that it irks.

China, Russia Blamed for Dwindling US Hegemony

Despite indicators that it was the US forcing its allies in Europe to go along with destructive embargoes because it is siding with the corrupt regime of Ukraine.

From the food insecurity to fertilizers, which the US and allies have blamed due to their alleged fault in causing it, all to support their proxy war in Ukraine.

But Russia would not have the blame game that has caused global suffering due to supporting a corrupt Ukrainian regime attacking Donbass civilians in 2014. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview that Western claims are lies.

According to Lavrov, this is a misguided sanction pushed by the US and its willing allies to protect Western dominance or the unipolar order, which Washington craves to maintain its dominance over Beijing and Moscow.

They have cut off Russian grain exports, while the Ukrainians mindlessly put mines in ports that trap their own ships. The west has conveniently deflected the horrendous errors of Kyiv.

Supporting Ukraine and imposing sanctions has resulted in inflation, recession, and energy shortages, and they are now scrambling for gas and oil.

Now they want to involve the UN secretary-general in their failed gambits. Despite unpaid UN dues that have given China a talking point, Washington does not approve, forgetting that the United Nations is a forum for all nations, not only their interests.
