Executive producer and director Fred Savage has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by six female crew members from the set of ABC's 'The Wonder Years' reboot.
The group of women complained to Disney, which controls ABC, in February. After speaking with an HR representative, Fred Savage was immediately barred from the set and an inquiry was launched.
Fred Savage's Accusers Share the Shocking Allegations
Details of Fred Savage's claimed abuse by the six women were published by The Hollywood Reporter. One of the group members praised Disney's action, saying, "To their credit, I was called within hours. Immediately, an inquiry was launched, and he was prohibited from set."
News of Fred Savage's termination from the production first surfaced on May 7; a spokesman cited allegations of inappropriate conduct. "His eyes would go blank when he drew me aside repeatedly to verbally abuse me, but then "he flips a switch and he's Fred Savage," one of his victims told THR of how Savage's demeanor would change from pleasant to dark in an instant.
Another lady, who claims to have been friends with Fred Savage before being abruptly dismissed, claims that after she joined the group for a night out he made unwanted and intrusive approaches toward her. She said that he later sent her an apology message, but that she chose not to reply.
In September 2021, ABC broadcast the 'Wonder Years' reboot's debut appearance. In May, a second season was ordered. Up to the age of 17, Fred Savage played a character in the original 'The Wonder Years' from 1988 to 1993. He and co-star Jason Hervey, according to Vanity Fair, were sued in 1993 for verbal and physical abuse by costume designer Monique Long.
In 2018, Fred Savage was accused of misconduct once more after a cast member of the Fox sitcom 'The Grinde' accused him of threatening and intimidating him. Savage refuted the allegations, and 20th Century Fox Television's inquiry into the charges exonerated him.
Fred Savage was accused of assault, abuse, gender harassment, and gender discrimination by Younjoo Hwang, a costume designer for the same program. Savage's alleged behavior was, according to Hwang, well-known, but she decided not to file a formal complaint for fear of "never working in this profession again."
Fred Savage Keeps Low-Profile Following Harassment, Assault Claims
Since being accused of "forcing himself" on a former crew member at a bar, Fred Savage hasn't been seen in public. The 46-year-old actor was seen speeding out from his Bel Air residence in Los Angeles, California, while trying to maintain a low profile.
He got into his silver BMW with a passenger next to him, trying to keep a low profile by donning a baseball cap. Since claims from six women arose, saying he was removed from the 'Wonder Years' reboot for sexual harassment, the married father of three hasn't been seen in public until now.
Although Savage had already refuted the majority of the accusations made against him, he did promise to "try to acknowledge and amend" any actions that had a "bad" impact on anybody." He gained renown after appearing in the 1988 original, and up until May 6 he was serving as the sequel's director.
The ladies assert that he transferred a young female crew member into his Atlanta home without Jennifer Lynn Stone's consent, his wife of 18 years. He is also charged with gifting her with presents prior to verbally abusing her on the set and demeanor another woman who attempted to intervene.
Savage is also charged with following another lady into a restroom and touching her in the groin area. The ladies came forward to make new accusations when it was revealed that he was being backed by his friends and family, as per Daily Mail.
