Man Arrested in Connection With Couple's Death in Washington

Shaun Rose was observed driving in Mason County on Sunday and was chased by Mason County Sheriff's Office officers, but she avoided them at the time by driving carelessly, according to officials. He allegedly fled a white Buick that Mason County officers had pursued, then stole a car in Pierce County and proceeded to Tacoma, where he also abandoned the vehicle before being captured at the gas station.

Officials reported a discussion between cops and Rose but provided no other information on her capture. Rose was arrested on Saturday for the deaths of Steven P. Shulz and Mina Shulz, both 51. The couple was discovered dead in their yard on Shady Glen Avenue Southeast in Olalla on Thursday.

A woman went to check on her parents and discovered forced entry into the residence and observed blood inside, but couldn't find them and phoned 911, according to sheriff's authorities in a Facebook post on Friday. Rose is believed to have stolen a car at Bowe Lane in Port Orchard to flee the area, CBS News reported.

The Schulzes' deaths were discovered at approximately 5:15 pm. Thursday after the couple's daughter went to check on them, according to the sheriff's office. The Kitsap County Coroner's Office is investigating the Schulzes' deaths to establish the cause and manner of death. No other information regarding the suspected murders was immediately available.

Rose was taken into arrest by Kitsap County officers and brought into the Kitsap County Jail on a no-bail felony murder warrant. Rose has a criminal past that includes auto theft, burglary, theft, and drug usage, according to FOX13 Seattle. He failed to appear at a pre-trial hearing on burglary charges earlier this month after being freed on bail.

The sheriff's office expressed gratitude to residents who provided multiple leads and stated that detectives are still looking for information and security video linked to the event, as per Fox News.

Who Is Shaun Rose?

According to deputies, Shaun D. Rose, who was formally identified as the prime suspect by Kitsap police on August 20, was on the run after the murder of Steve and Mina Shulz. Last Saturday, detectives claimed Rose stole a car to flee the area where he allegedly committed the murder. Rose was detained and taken into custody by deputies on Sunday night.

Rose was observed driving a white Buick in Mason County earlier in the day, according to officers, but the Mason County Sheriff's Office quickly lost sight of the suspect owing to his erratic and reckless driving. Rose then abandoned the Buick in Pierce County and stole another car, which he drove to Tacoma.

According to Kitsap police, the man then left the truck and went into the company, where he was apprehended by Tacoma cops. There was no obvious link between Rose, Steve, and Mina Shulz. Kitsap police are still looking into the case and welcome any information from the public.
