The US State Department has given its official statement regarding the death of an American national in combat, reminding all US citizens to leave Ukraine if they could. This death was confirmed on Friday after a Russian official revealed it earlier.
US Mercenary Dies in Ukraine
A representative from the State Department confirmed the death of an American fighting for Kyiv. He said last Friday that there wouldn't be any more comments, noted Newsweek.
Oleg Kozhemyako, the governor of Russia's Far Eastern Primorsky Region, reported last Friday that an army unit from his area called "Tiger" had killed an American while fending off an assault by a group of mercenaries from different nations, mentioned Republic World.
He continued by saying that he had written in his telegram that a US mercenary serving Ukraine had been killed and that he had included documents attesting to the victim's identity as Joshua Alan Jones, reported RT.
According to documents, he was born in Tennessee and joined the Ukrainian army on July 14 in the A3449 military unit. After doing some research, Russian military reporter Andrey Rudenko discovered that Jones was killed by Ukrainian soldiers when he attempted to flee, citing the Big News Network.
The regime was in a desperate state, so this was frequently done to prevent foreign mercenaries from leaving. In light of the ongoing conflict, the US state department advised every American national to stay away from Ukraine and asserted that Russian forces were pursuing US citizens there.
This cannot be confirmed even if it is true because Washington is allegedly using the media to distort the truth.
Additionally, US citizens must depart the state if doing so is safe. Ukraine allows foreign soldiers of fortune to fight despite their being cannon fodder.
Multiple foreign mercenaries have reportedly been wiped out in battle in surgical strikes using precise missile attacks, according to multiple statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to earlier reports from the Donetsk People's Republic, three Western citizens charged with the crime of serving as mercenaries for Ukraine may be handed the death penalty, whereas two more face up to eight years in captivity.
To prevent Ukrainian troops from being bombarded, many of these nationals were placed on the frontlines to take the brunt of the Russian offensive as cannon fodder.
Foreign Mercenaries Escaping Gets Killed
The governments of these captured foreign mercenaries charged the Russian MoD with breaking the Geneva Convention. Moscow shot back that they are not considered prisoners of war under international law. If they are still alive and fighting against Russia and its allies as criminals rather than as POWs, they will rot in prison for a very long time or worse because of their actions.
Following the Russian Defense Ministry's press briefing on Saturday, US citizens were among the combatants killed in high-precision Russian airstrikes on nationalist combat zones in the Kharkov Region of north-east Ukraine.
The US State Department gave its opinion about the slain American National but has not reacted to the report that Ukrainians killed Jones, not Russians or allies.
