The highest level of benefit will be provided to all New Yorkers registered in the SNAP food assistance program in September. It will provide an additional 234 million dollars in federal cash to assist those who are now getting food stamps.
Governor Kathy Hochul proposed that people who previously got food stamps continue to receive the increased benefits they have received from the start of the pandemic as well as an additional sum from the $234 million fund that was authorized in a proposal that was released on September 13, 2022.
New York Sends Additional $95 in SNAP Benefits
In a formal news release, Gov. Hochul stated that "too many hardworking New Yorkers continue to feel the consequences of the pandemic struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table." Homes that are currently getting close to their maximum SNAP benefit will receive an additional payment of roughly $95 to help families who have been severely impacted by inflation.
According to Finger Lakes1, the assistance payments will be distributed between September 15 and September 26. This means that a household will still receive a supplemental payment of at least 95 dollars even if they are already close to or at the maximum benefit level of $835 required for a family of four.
More than 1.6 million households and more than 2.8 million residents of New York are thought to have benefited from SNAP benefits in just a month of July, as per Marca.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Department of Human Services is responsible for managing SNAP benefits in Tennessee. The Tennessee EBT card issues SNAP benefits every month for what is known as a certification period.
If they meet the requirements, low-income Tennessee citizens may be eligible for SNAP. In addition to other requirements, residents must pass an income and resource test. The resources and circumstances of your home determine how much assistance you get.
Most able-bodied residents between the ages of 16 and 59 must register for work, participate in the Employment & Training Program if available, accept job offers, and cannot quit a job to receive benefits.
College students who are working an average of 20 hours per week, enrolling in work-study programs, taking care of young dependents, or receiving Families First, the state's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, are also eligible to receive SNAP benefits.
After SNAP approval, EBT cards are mailed within 30 days. EBT cards are accepted at participating retailers in-person and online to pay for food products. Through the Tennessee ONE DHS site, you can fill out and submit an online application for SNAP.
Additionally, you can upload or mail a printed application to TDHS. You can request a SNAP application be mailed to you by contacting the local TDHS office, or you can download one.
The TDHS states that the procedures for applying for and maintaining SNAP depend on your SNAP categorization, which is determined by the circumstances of your household and income. Whether extra documentation is required to continue receiving SNAP benefits after approval will depend on your classification, Yahoo Finance reported.
