Two people have been accused of assault after a man heckling Prince Andrew during the Queen's funeral procession in Edinburgh was knocked to the ground.

Prince Andrew was verbally insulted on September 12 as he walked behind his mother's casket down the Royal Mile, and after witnesses intervened, police opened an investigation.

Heckler Verbally Abuses Prince Andrew

After being removed by police, the 22-year-old protester who was captured on camera heckling the Duke of York was charged with a breach of peace. He was then released on a promise to appear in court later.

However, Police Scotland has now revealed that two other men, both 34, are now anticipated to appear in court as a result of their detention and accusations. Two men, both 34, have been charged with assault following an altercation on the Royal Mile on September 12 according to a force spokesperson.

As their mother's casket made its final journey from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles' Cathedral, Prince Andrew walked behind his three siblings, King Charles, Princess Anne, and the Earl of Wessex.

He wore a morning suit because military garb was not permitted for the event. Due to his contentious association with the deceased US millionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide while awaiting prosecution on allegations of sex trafficking, the 62-year-old retired from royal duties in 2019.

The Duke of York mostly retired from public life after reaching an out-of-court settlement with his sexual assault victim Virginia Roberts earlier this year. He always refuted Roberts' claims that he abused her sexually when she was 17 and being trafficked by his pal Epstein.

But before the matter got to a US civil trial, he and Roberts reached a settlement early this year, as per Daily Mail. Social media users commented on the police response to the detention of a few protestors earlier this month, calling it heavy-handed. Prime Minister Liz Truss's spokeswoman declined to comment on practical policing choices but insisted that the right to protest was a basic value.

We know some people want to protest on a range of issues during this time of national mourning, a spokesman for the National Police Chiefs' Council said the day after the incident involving the Duke of York. Officers must balance these rights against those who wish to grieve and reflect, the spokesman added, according to Express.

Intruder Pretended as Prince Andrew's Fiancee in November 2021

Security personnel at Windsor were supposedly so terrified of Prince Andrew that they permitted a lady posing as his fiancée to enter the Royal Lodge grounds without first consulting him.

The con artist, who was in her 40s, appeared at the security gate in November of last year and claimed to have a dinner date with the Duke of York. Despite not having an ID, the Spanish national was admitted without being stopped or questioned; according to reports, staff members even paid for her taxi fare.

Before suspicion was aroused and police were called, she walked around the property for up to 40 minutes before going inside the Grade II-listed Lodge. The 62-year-old Prince Andrew is rumored to have been out at the time. The intruder was taken into custody on burglary allegations and later placed in a mental health section.

Maps of the land and other Royal residences were in her luggage, along with a self-defense tool. According to Thames Valley Police, she was later let go without being charged. At the yearly International Protection Expo held at Kensington Olympia, Grindell, the founder of the celebrity and VIP security service Defuse, was giving a speech.

The private security at Royal Lodge is funded by the Privy Purse, and Andrew's police protection was scaled back when he departed his role in 2020. Former Met royal security officer Paul Page claims to have had similar interactions with female visitors as Andrew. Staff workers, he claimed, were always too terrified to inquire about unidentified female visitors since doing so would always result in him angrily abusing them, Mirror reported.
