A hostile subway assailant pushed an unwary passenger to the tracks at a Brooklyn Subway station. The unprovoked attack occurred last Monday when the attacker randomly shoved the victim toward the train tracks without apparent reason.

Random Stranger in an Unprovoked Queens Subway Attack

Police stated that the suspect, who had 20 arrests before this attack, was identified as Lamale McRae, 41, who had a rap sheet for attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and even harassment, reported NY Daily News.

His attack on the victim was caught on camera last Friday. Police revealed they used facial recognition to identify McRae as he was nabbed on one occasion for shooting someone close to his residence in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The suspect attacked David Martin, 32, who was waiting at the Manhattan-bound L train platform in the Myrtle-Wyckoff station around Friday at 2:30 pm, based on video obtained by the New York Police Department (NYPD), noted Yahoo.

A group of children saw McRae's unprovoked attack as he threw the victim onto the tracks. But several good Samaritans saw the cruel assault, leaped off the platform, and got Martin out before a rail car came.

Subway Assault Victim Suffers

Martin suffered a broken collarbone in the fall and could not work for six weeks afterward, his sister claimed.

The victim was interviewed by WABC-TV, saying he was knocked to the track forcefully by the subway assailant in the Brooklyn subway station. Bystanders were told he was fine, although he was severely injured and needed to be brought to a hospital. He added that his face swells, and he is now mentally unequipped to deal with the assault on his person.

Due to the shocking attack on the train, the victim expresses anxiety that he'll never feel secure on the train again. He explained, as someone from New York City, taking the train was always safe until he reached 32 years old.The experience has left him fearful and shaken that a train ride is perilous from now.

The family of the unfortunate victim is trying their best to help him deal with the aftermath of the attack, and relatives feel overwhelmed they are struggling to help the victim.

Martin's mother, Audrey, expressed relief that nothing worse happened to her son but revealed how the victim suffered from severe trauma afterward in disbelief at how McRae would randomly try to kill her son. She added that the victim is now an anxious wreck who is having a hard time.

Furthermore, her son cannot seem to move on from the incident, as he went back to smoking again and would panic each time getting a lawyer is mentioned. Martin keeps replaying the video too much, as he cannot imagine why he was singled out by everyone there that day.

NYPD Admits Rise in Subway Crimes

On October 16, there was a rise in crimes centered in NYC subways by about 41%, Felony assaults up by 17%, and a shocking 431 assaults in 2022, more than 370 in 2021. It gets sullen as 174 suspects of felony assault in NYC are mentally deranged, all 42.3% noted a source.
