Kim Yo Jong, Kim Jong Un's politically significant sister, warned Western opponents of the hermit country of a "fatal security crisis."
Kim Jong Un's sister made the remark in response to US-aligned countries denouncing North Korea's missile tests following a UN Security Council meeting on Friday. Following the North Korean military's test launch of ICBM missiles, the Security Council was summoned, reportedly to strengthen national self-defense, Fox News reported.
Kim Jong Un's Sister Warns US
For its "disgusting joint statement with such rabbles as Britain, France, Australia, Japan, and South Korea," Kim Yo Jong blasted the US. Kim Jong Un, his wife Ri Sol Ju, and their "dear daughter" saw the launch of a brand-new intercontinental ballistic missile on Friday, according to state media KCNA, which reported this on Saturday.
Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea, published images of Kim Jong Un and his daughter watching a rocket take off. The Hwasong-17 missile, the nation's longest-range, nuclear-capable missile, was launched, according to the 38-year-old leader, proving he has a dependable weapon to counter US-led military threats.
According to the Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada, the weapon might travel up to 9,320 miles, which is sufficient to reach the US mainland.
There were several requests to denounce the state's first successful launch of the brand-new Hwasong-17 missile, which can reach North America, throughout the conference. Per The Independent, Thomas-Greenfield read a declaration from 14 nations that backed measures to stop North Korea from advancing its nuclear programs.
Kim Yo Jong Compares US to 'Barking Dog'
Kim Yo Jong, who is seen as being the second-most powerful person in North Korea, slammed what she termed "a disgusting joint statement together with such rabbles as Britain, France, Australia, Japan, and South Korea" and compared the US to a "barking dog gripped with panic."
North Korea will view the US-led joint statement as "a grave political provocation and a wanton violation of our sovereignty," Kim Yo Jong added. Choe Son-hui, the foreign minister of North Korea, described Antonio Guterres as "a puppet of the United States" earlier on Monday. In reaction to North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile launch on Friday, the UNSC meeting was called.
This year, Pyongyang has conducted a record number of missile tests, which is thought to be a provocative move intended to gain leverage in future negotiations with the US. Some experts claim that the successful steep-angle launch of its most lethal Hwasong-17 missile during Friday's test confirmed the missile's capability to target anyplace on the US mainland.
At the summit, the US and its partners sharply denounced the missile test and demanded that North Korea be put under pressure to scale back its missile and nuclear programs. It is crucial, according to Thomas-Greenfield, that the Security Council's 15 members respond as one.
Kim Yo Jong claims that the Security Council's debate of North Korea's ICBM launch is "obviously the application of double standards" by the organization, which "turned blind eyes" to the US-South Korean military drills.
She said that North Korea will protect its security with "the toughest counteraction to the last" and that it won't permit any attempt to restrict its right to self-defense. North Korea may soon perform its first nuclear test in five years, which raises concerns. The current state of North Korea's nuclear arsenal is still shrouded in mystery, as per Business Mirror.
Some analysts claim North Korea now possesses nuclear-capable missiles that are capable of hitting the US mainland as well as its allies South Korea and Japan, while others claim this is still years away.
