Kanye West isn't going to let Rolling Stone or any media outlets pit him up against a fellow artist.
During the most recent of his infamous concert rants, West broke down how he felt about Rolling Stone allegedly printing a made-up comment of Drake slamming his lyricism to a Newark, NJ. crowd.
"They always be trying to pit n---as against each other and it ain't going down no more," West said during his Saturday night concert. "So tonight it ain't none of that. We love Drake, we love every motherf--ker that put their heart into this motherf--kin' music."
The quote in question reads:
"There were some real questionable bars on there," Drake allegedly told Rolling Stone, referring to a Yeezus track "I'm In It. 'Like that 'Swaghili' line? Come on, man. Even Fabolous wouldn't say some sh-- like that."
Drake took to his official Twitter account to deny the quotes and told his fans his cover was replaced by Philip Seymour Hoffman. The rapper's comments caused a social media backlash, with many fans angered by what seemed like Drake whining about losing the cover.
The rapper quickly went into damage control, releasing a statement to clear up the confusion surrounding his Twitter comments:
"I apologize to anybody who took my initial comments out of context because in no way would I ever want to offend the Hoffman family or see myself as bigger than that moment. I am still the same person. Today I was forced out of my character and felt the need to react swiftly. These days are the worst ones. Waking up after a great night in the studio and it's your day to be picked apart. After dwelling on it for a few hours or days you will come to the conclusion that you brought it on yourself almost every time. So here I am having that moment. I once again apologize to everybody who took my cover comments the wrong way. I respect Rolling Stone for being willing to give a kid from Toronto a shot at the cover. I guess this is a day to learn and grow."
