Former NBA player Jeremy Lin condemned the recent California Mass Shooting in the United States that triggered a surge of fear in Asian communities.
Jeremy Lin expressed his outrage on social media over the "mass casualties from gun violence" that continue to "harm Asian Americans and all communities," calling it "straight up sickening."
The former Toronto Raptors guard tweeted: "There's been 37+ mass shootings in 2023, and 650 mass shootings in 2022. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!"
He also urged people to "fight for change" and to donate to the families of the Lunar New Year Shooting victims through a GoFundMe page.

Over 30 mass shootings have already occurred in the US, which is more than the total number of days in 2023. The Gun Violence Archive (GVA) documented at least 36 US mass shootings by the 23rd day of the year, with over 50 fatalities and 150 injuries, as per an earlier HNGN report.
Jeremy Lin signed a contract with the Guangzhou Loong Lions for the 2022-23 Chinese Basketball Association season, however, he announced on Weibo on December 29 that he would be leaving the team, according to NBC News.
Multiple Attacks in California
The former New York Knicks star player's remarks came following the Lunar New Year Shooting at a ballroom dancing club in Los Angeles, wherein a shooter killed 11 people during the Lunar New Year celebrations, per CBS News.
The Lunar New Year Shooting incident was regarded as the worst gun attack since May 24, when 21 people were slain at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
In California's Half Moon Bay, a suspect is reportedly in custody after two connected shootings on Monday at a trucking company and a mushroom farm in a coastal town south of San Francisco, per an AP News article published by Yahoo! News.
