Lisa Marie Presley did not want to be remembered with tears and sorrow.

Elvis Presley's death on January 12 at 54 came as a shock to her family, friends, and admirers, but she had already expressed her desires in the case of her untimely demise.

Lisa Marie Presley's Daughter Shares Their Last Picture

According to her longtime friend and managing partner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Joel Weinshanker, her memorial ceremony at her father's famed Graceland home was always supposed to be a celebration of her life, not a funeral.

In an interview before the January 22 event, Weinshanker stated, "Graceland is about commemorating the life of Elvis, and we're going to do the same for Lisa. She gave her funeral a great deal of consideration. Without a doubt, she desired to be interred in Graceland. Since her son had died, there was no question that she desired to be interred close to him."

Benjamin Keough, the son of Lisa Marie Presley, committed suicide in July 2020 at 27. In the aftermath of his death, she had one specific wish for her memorial ceremony.

"Her only comment was, 'Just don't make it sad,'" Weinshanker thought back. "She wanted it to be a celebration so that it will be," he said of the lady he described as "one of the kindest, most sincere souls" he'd ever known, Yahoo reported.

Lisa Marie Presley's life and legacy were celebrated at a memorial ceremony on the front lawn of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, with tributes from those closest to her, including her mother, Pricilla Presley, and fellow singers Alanis Morissette and Axl Rose.

Riley Keough posted the last picture she ever took with her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, before passing on January 12. The photograph depicted the mother and daughter seated at a restaurant, smiling warmly at the camera and leaning in close.

Keough wore a silver and gold crop top and bottoms for the event, while Presley rocked a black shirt and black blazer with gold buttons and decorations.

The 'Daisy Jones & The Six' star broke her silence on her mother's passing over the weekend by posting a throwback photo of the two. Keough requested that her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, deliver the poignant letter she prepared for her mother's funeral on Sunday.

Why Lisa Marie Presley's Death Under Investigation?

During Lisa Marie Presley's memorial service at Graceland, Keough's husband, Ben Smith-Peterson, read aloud a letter written by Keough. Page Six later confirmed that Keough revealed having a daughter at the service.

On Sunday, the singer was interred at Graceland with her son, who committed suicide in 2020. He was 27. Lisa Marie is also survived by her mother, Priscilla, and her 14-year-old twin children, Finley and Harper Lockwood.

The medical examiner has chosen to delay determining the cause of Lisa Marie Presley's death. According to reports, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has requested more investigations and inquiries into the singer's death.

Per Daily Express, the initial report failed to identify Elvis Presley's cause of death. A representative for the medical examiner-office coroner said that the case would be re-evaluated by a doctor when more testing has been conducted. However, the timeline for this procedure is unclear.

Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death remains unknown. However, she passed away earlier this month after being transported to the hospital from her Calabasas home in cardiac arrest.
