There are two "Star Wars Episode 7" casting rumors fans should be aware of this week, with one being a bit stranger than the other.
First up is a rumor relating to the newest face of the "Transformers" franchise. According to AintItCool.com, sources close to the "Star Wars Episode 7" confirmed Jack Reynor has landed a role in the upcoming film. Reynor is set to star in Michael Bay's new "Transformers" trilogy, but until the "Star Wars" camp confirms the casting news, take any rumors with a grain of salt.
The other casting rumor is a bit of a stretch. In a recent interview with the Independent U.K., Pussy Riot band members Maria Alyoshina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova teased "several" Hollywood studios have requested they star in their films.
"We have some offers but we cannot say from whom, nothing is agreed," Tolokonnikova said, jokingly adding the film could be something "like Star Wars".
It's more likely the Russian duo was referring to a film based off their controversial lives, but with little "Star Wars" information out, any mention of the production gets immediate attention.
Before Pussy Riot and Reynor were on the "Star Wars" radar, "Thor" star Tom Hiddleston had his turn in the casting rumor spotlight. During an interview with Time Out London, Hiddleston was asked about his rumored connection to "Star Wars Episode 7".
"Well, that hasn't happened yet. It'd be very flattering, of course. I did talk to Ewan about it once," Hiddleston told Timeout. "When they asked if he wanted to be Obi-Wan Kenobi he said: 'Are you joking? Of course!' But his experience didn't live up to the promise. Besides, I imagine they're looking for people who don't have an association elsewhere. The audience need to believe in the character, rather than saying, 'Oh look, Loki with a lightsaber!'"
"Star Wars Episode 7" is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
