At a postgame press conference, Draymond Green told Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian that he does not regard the Warriors and the Grizzlies as rivals.
"Let's not call it a rivalry... It's a basketball game," he said, according to NBC Sports.
ESPN's Tim MacMahon probed more into Green's reasons for not seeing the Warriors and Grizzlies as rivals. Draymond Green explained that what creates a rivalry is when opposing teams manage to score a win against each other.
"Clearly we've won four times and I think their organization has zero championships, so I can't consider that a rivalry," he said.
The Warriors won the NBA Western Conference semifinal series in six games last May on the way to their fourth NBA title in eight seasons, while the Grizzlies triumphed on Thursday.
