"The Voice" judge Cee Lo Green dropped a bomb during his appearance on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" when he told the crowd he would not be returning to the show.
The "Forget You" singer slowly transitioned from talking about his tour with Lionel Richie into the topic of "The Voice."
"I'm going to continue my relationship with NBC," Cee Lo told DeGeneres. "I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I'm going to miss The Voice too. So I'm not coming back, guys."
"I didn't mean to drop the bomb today," Cee Lo added.
Cee Lo explained he wanted to get back into music because he hasn't released a new album in four years. The singer also wants to pursue other show opportunities and not pigeon hole himself in "The Voice."
"I don't want to wear out my welcome. I have so many other things I want to do - I haven't released an album in four years," Cee Lo told DeGeneres.
Richie added he understood Cee Lo's decision considering artist's relevancy in the music world lasts for a short time.
"You have to go back and give us some more music," Richie told Cee Lo.
However, the singer would go back to the show if NBC approached him in the future. Cee Lo and fellow judge Christina Aguilera were replaced with User and Shakira for Season 6 of "The Voice". No word if Aguilera is also finished with the show as well, but judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are going strong.
Season 6 of "The Voice" premieres Feb. 24 on NBC. You can watch Cee Lo drop the bombshell on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" in the video below.
