American singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers has called for her fans to conduct in-person ticket sales to avoid ticket bots and scalpers, and exorbitant ticket fees.

Rogers released an email today telling her fans that she was planning to get a jump on automated ticket scalpers by only selling them the old-fashioned way: in person. The Alaska singer said that people who wanted to watch her perform could physically walk up to box officers on Friday to get their chance on pre-sale tickets for her U.S. summer tour.

Maggie Rogers To Hold In-Person Ticket Sales

Her tour is scheduled to run from July to August later this year, and she noted that the tickets would be on sale for only one day. Rogers added that there was a two-ticket-per-person limit but said customers could choose any ticket they wanted, as per Engadget.

Rogers added that the ticket prices and tiers would be made available alongside exclusive merchandise and a special playlist she said she made just for a box office day. The singer noted that the in-person ticket sale process would be handled differently from city to city, advising her fans to check her website for specific details.

The Alaska star first rose to fame after a video of Pharrell Williams reacting to her "Alaska" demo went viral on social media in 2016. Rogers revealed that her fans in the New York City area could visit the Music Hall of Williamsburg box office in Brooklyn.

Rogers added that if fans are unable to make it to the box office on the one-day ticket sale, her website will have open registrations for traditional artist pre-sales on Apr. 11. Furthermore, Spotify will hold its pre-sales of the summer tour tickets on Apr. 12 and general availability opens on Apr. 14.

In a post on social media, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter said there are currently many conversations about fighting against bots and ensuring that tickets go directly to fans and come at a reasonable price. She noted that ticketing fees are at an all-time high, and many people, including herself, were frustrated and concerned about the situation, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Avoiding Ticket Bots and Scalpers

Areas that have joined the selling of Rogers' summer tour tickets include Charlotte, Nashville, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland in Maine, Toronto, Colorado, Utah, and Seattle. The singer herself will man the Brooklyn booth for her July show scheduled to be held in Forest Hills, Queens.

The artist's performance on Aug. 13 at the Hollywood Bowl with Alvvays support was separate from the in-person ticket sale. For that particular show, tickets would go on sale on May 2. The announcement comes as Ticketmaster faces criticism from fans and artists, including Taylor Swift and the Cure, over disproportionate service fees and a system they claim has become overrun by ticket scalpers.

In a social media post, Rogers urged her fans to buy tickets "like it's 1965" as she is among the artists who will be playing $44 per-ticket shows at Washington, D.C.'s new venue in Atlantis scheduled for Sept. 29, said the Rolling Stone.
