Timberwolves wing Kyle Anderson finally spoke about the recent altercation with his teammate Rudy Gobert, breaking his silence for the first time since the latter punched him.
Shortly after the Wolves slapped Gobert with a suspension for their play-in game versus the Lakers, Anderson said in an interview that the fight between them is now over. On top of that, he finds everyone else's reaction lame, like it was some first in sports.
Kyle Anderson vs. Rudy Gobert No More?
The Minnesota Timberwolves forward guard, Anderson, has finally spoken since the recent altercation with his teammate last Sunday. He now declares that the fight between him and Gobert is over, reports Yahoo Sports.
A few days have passed since Gobert threw a punch at the chest of the forward guard amid the timeout of the first half of the match against the New Orleans Pelicans. During the game, the Wolves sent the former home, according to CBS Sports. Since then, his team gave him a one-game suspension, making him miss out on the play-in Lakers game on Tuesday.
Yet, Anderson still went on to speak about the incident to reporters. He assures that the issues between them have been laid to rest. The Wolves forward guard reveals that they have "definitely hashed it out," adding that they have "put it behind" them.
The baller also disclosed that they had already discussed it on the same night of the incident. He notes that he does not want it to be a "Kyle vs. Rudy thing." After all, he reminds everyone that they are teammates. Anderson also told reporters, "I always got my teammates' back, and we moved on."
Anderson Finds Reaction to the Altercation Lame
While Anderson declares they are now okay, he still expressed his disappointment over fans' reaction to their recent altercation. In the same interview during shootaround, he points out that such incidents occur now and then in sports. The forward guard adds that people act as if it happened for the first instance.
And as such, Anderson finds the response of fans and other bystanders somewhat "lame." He told reports, "Just seeing how everything is playing out is kind of lame." Nevertheless, he assures everyone that they are now both focused on winning. They have moved on from the fight.
Sports Illustrated highlights that it is essential for the Wolves to move on from the recent incident to prepare for their game against the Lakers. If they win this match, it will give them the No. 7 seed in the West. But if it goes the other way and they end up on the losing end, they will be thrown at the edge of elimination for the playoffs.
Gobert has yet to respond to recent remarks of Anderson as of writing.
