David Choe, an actor known for his role in the hit Netflix series 'Beef,' is now facing widespread backlash online after his rape comments back in 2014 resurfaced.
The 'Beef' actor made the comments about rape in a podcast way back in 2014. The video of the episode made rounds on Twitter. However, the Elon Musk-owned social network has since been taken it down.
'Beef' Actor David Choe's Rape Comments
According to The Decider, the new Netflix series 'Beef' quickly took the world by storm. The comedy-drama show rapidly rose to the top of the most viewed show ranking of the giant streamer, alongside favorites these days like 'The Night Agent,' 'Love is Blind,' and 'You.'
While some viewers left high praises after binge-watching 'Beef,' one of its lead stars, Choe, is now receiving heavy backlash on social media platforms like Twitter due to his past rape comments. The hit Netflix show centers on two strangers who had a random encounter when they figured in a road rage mess. Their dispute prevailed, dragging their family and loved ones to their cat and dog fight.
The artist and actor Choe stars as the cousin of Danny Cho, who Steven Yuen plays. But shortly after the premiere of the new Netflix hit, a video online puts a spotlight on the dark rape comments of Choe. Reporter, Aura Bogado, posted a clip of a podcast that the 'Beef' actor previously hosted. He narrated a disturbing encounter with a massage therapist and admitted he was a "successful rapist."
His co-host in the DVDASA, actress Asa Akira, called the 'Beef' actor a "rapist." He then replied by adding that he is "a successful rapist."
In the podcast, he told a graphic story about allegedly assaulting a massage therapist he called 'Rose.' The Netflix actor admitted that he began masturbating without her consent. He then asked her to touch his genitals, forcing her to put oil in his private part, per USA Today. Choe then forced her to do oral sex. The actor adds, "She's definitely not into it, but she's not stopping it either."
The artist/actor notes, "She has given me no signs that she's into me or that this is appropriate behavior." In the same year he made the remarks, he clarified that he was "not a rapist. Instead, his "bad storytelling" was at fault.
Why Did Twitter Take Down the Video?
BuzzFeed News notes that Twitter has removed the video containing the rape comments of the Netflix star. The poster disclosed why the social network did so.
Bodega claims that Choe asked the Musk-owned platform to take down the podcast video over a copyright issue, which the "nonprofit" of the actor reportedly owns. BuzzFeed says the clip is still on TikTok, but the audio has been muted due to graphic language.
