Who is Larry Elder?
Elder is popularly known as a longtime commentator who does not shy away from his conservative views. The AP News notes that Elder, a Black man, has opposed the "woke" agenda of the Democrats, specifically "Black Lives Matter." His stand on the matter gained him criticism from many Black people in the country.
Elder entered the political arena a few years ago or in 2021. Fox News reports that he was the top replacement candidate for the gubernatorial recall election in California last September 2021. He was seeking to replace the Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom. But the latter survived the recall.
Last year, he ran again as a California gubernatorial candidate facing Newsom. However, the Democrat won the seat. Since then, Elder has been showing signs that he might pursue a bid for the presidency in the upcoming polls in 2024. The conservative commentator teased that he will " likely run for president."
As per CNN, Elder is set to speak at the upcoming Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition. Other hopefuls, like Trump, Scott, and Hutchinson, are potentially present to address the crowd. Other Republican figures are reportedly considering running for the top post, such as former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. However, the two still need to launch their possible bid.
Meanwhile, the current President of the United States (POTUS), Joe Biden, a Democrat, is reportedly gunning for his reelection. However, he has yet to announce his bid formally.
