Snapchat’s ChatGPT-Powered ‘My AI’ Prompts 1-Star Reviews on App Stores Amid Backlash

More Snapchat users are leaving their reviews.

Snapchat debuted its ChatGPT-powered "My AI" feature to its users a week ago. Now, the reviews of its users are in, and most of them gave the social network a 1-star rating.

The app store listing of Snapchat received thousands of negative reviews. The uproar primarily complains about the new "My AI" feature, which used to be exclusive to Snapchat Plus subscribers.

Snapchat's My AI Prompts 1-Star Reviews on App Stores

As per Tech Crunch, Snapchat users are criticizing the new ChatGPT-powered AI chatbot feature. Some went straight to post their reviews on mobile app stores in the US, including the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The latest data shows that a striking majority recently gave Snapchat a low 1-star review. According to Sensor Tower, an app intelligence firm that looks into various social networks, the average rating for Snapchat is now at 1.67.

It is pretty low compared to the average rating of the social media app in the same period last year. On average, the platform showcased a 3.05 rating in the first quarter of 2023. During that time, only 35% of the reviews had a 1-star rating.

This time around, the data of Sensor Tower reveals that roughly 75% of the reviews of Snapchat in US app stores got 1-star ratings, which is the lowest possible.

Besides these alarming figures, more Snapchat users are reviewing the app. The intelligence firm says that the number of reviews the social network receives these days has shot up by around five times.

Meanwhile, the app data platform, aptly named Apptopia, says users primarily talked about "AI" in their reviews. With that, it became the top keyword for most app store reviews on the social network this week.

The data of Apptopia also shows that 1-star ratings flooded the Snapchat app store listing a day after the tech firm debuted the "My AI" feature to its users.

According to Social Media Today, the GPT-powered AI feature of Snapchat allows users to talk to the chatbot about various questions. It is now pinned on top of its users' inboxes, which some find frustratingly annoying.

How to Remove Snapchat's My AI?

With the recent backlash, some attempted to remove the "My AI" feature pinned on top of their inboxes. However, it turns out it requires a Snapchat Plus subscription to remove it, 9to5 Mac reports.

The social network says that Snapchat+ subscribers "have the ability to unpin or remove My AI from their Chat feed."

To do so, paying users need to press and hold "My AI." And from there, they may go to "Chat Settings" and select "Clear from Chat Feed." And that is it. It should no longer appear in the inbox.
