Thousands of Celtic supporters celebrated their team winning the Scottish Premiership, which led to a violent outburst. Unfortunately, three individuals were reported to be gravely injured.

Victims of Violent Attack

On Saturday afternoon, May 27, supporters converged on Glasgow Cross in the heart of the city in Scotland.

In a news report by BBC, a guy in his 30s was reportedly seriously hurt in an assault and sent to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Two more guys, ages 33 and 19, were transported to the hospital after suffering attacks. They were released shortly thereafter.

Scotland's police department said that they had to intervene to keep things from becoming worse. Ten persons were taken into custody for various offenses, including assault, public disruption, and attack on police officers. Fixed penalty notices were issued to an additional eight persons.

The Scotsman reported that police verified 18 persons were wounded, mostly due to alcohol consumption, and that no cops were hurt in the process.

All reported occurrences are currently being investigated.

According to Superintendent Gerry Corrigan, "Working with partners, a proportionate policing plan was in place which facilitated the gathering, prioritized public safety, and sought to minimize disruption to businesses and communities."

He pointed out that there was an excessive amount of disruptive behavior and occurrences throughout the day. He said officers responded quickly and forcefully to keep the situation from escalating.

Street Covered With Trash and Debris

After Parkhead's 5-0 victory against Aberdeen, chaos broke out. According to BBC, Glasgow's downtown was littered with trash after the festivities, but a massive clean-up effort was finished on Sunday, May 28. The streets were filled with trash as the people dispersed, including plastic bags, bottles, and cans.

Council members coordinated with law enforcement in the run-up to the game, and garbage men cleaned up afterward.

Before Celtic's 12:30 PM kickoff time against Aberdeen, the outcome of the championship was already decided. With a win at Tynecastle at the beginning of May, the league was over.

Police called the degree of anti-social behavior and trash "unacceptable" after last year's Celtic victory, raising concerns among the public. Officers reported no major incidents or unrest during the 2022 match's post-game celebrations, which included the use of flares and smoke bombs.
