ByteDance's new AI-powered chatbot is being tested, as shared by one of its employees who wanted to remain unidentified.
As of writing, ByteDance is still facing numerous issues because of the criticisms against its online video platform, TikTok. But these problems don't stop the Chinese company from innovating. Now, ByteDance is believed to be working on a new artificial intelligence tool.
The TikTok owner calls this new AI project "Grace." The anonymous source stated that the tech firm is already testing Grace among its employees.
ByteDance's AI-Powered Chatbot Now Tested!
According to Time Magazine's latest report, the new AI Grace chatbot is already used by selected ByteDance employees.
Those who have access to the generative AI model will be able to receive a pop-up message which states that Grace is based on several large language models.
Although the anonymous ByteDance employee didn't mention if Grace is similar to ChatGPT, numerous rumors claim that the new Chinese AI chatbot will work like OpenAI's popular generative artificial intelligence.
The new AI Grace is the first effort of ByteDance to enter the generative AI sector.
As of press time, Grace's features and other details are still limited. It is still unclear if this new AI chatbot will be used exclusively by ByteDance's employees or if it will be released to the public market.
Another AI Chatbot Tested on TikTok
Aside from the rumored Grace AI chatbot, ByteDance is also testing another AI model called Tako.
As of writing, the new Tako chatbot isn't widely available. The Verge claims that the social media platform is only testing it in the Philippine region.
This means that users in North America and Europe can't access Tako. Regarding functionality, the Tako chatbot works like ChatGPT and other generative AI tools.
It can answer users' queries. If you are in the Philippines, you can use Tako by clicking its icon; it is located above the TikTok profile on the right side of the video.
"If I'm watching food videos and ask for a recipe, I'll get related TikTok videos for the recipe, or if I ask for good art exhibitions in Paris, it'll show videos alongside a list of suggestions in the answer," said Daniel Buchuk of Watchful Technologies.
Because of Tako's functionality, Buchuk believes that if ByteDance rolls out this new AI feature globally, it can radically change search and navigation on TikTok.
