A recent clip suggests that Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to dust off its post-World War II tanks and send them rolling into the escalating conflict with Ukraine.

As Ukraine's forces continue to push back against Russian forces, the Kremlin reportedly sends out its oldest and most outdated tanks in a desperate attempt to turn the tide of the war.

According to the Mirror UK, Russia has begun sending T44 and T-55 tanks, first produced in the 1950s, to the front lines in Ukraine. These rusting tanks, relics from the bygone era of World War II, should aid Russian troops.

As per a report by Newsweek, a Twitter user, who goes by @wartranslated, shared a video of the "ancient like mammoth's crap" tanks. War blogger Dmitri says, "A train transferring old Russian tanks was noticed in Voronezh."

The news of Russia's desperate move comes as Ukraine's forces have made significant gains in recent weeks. In the past few days, Ukrainian forces have retaken several key cities. The Ukrainian counteroffensive has put Russia on the defensive. And as such, Kremlin is now sending out its oldest and most outdated equipment to slow down the Ukrainian advance.

Mirror UK reports that Stalin first produced the T54 amid the Second World War aftermath way back in 1946. However, the 70-year-old Russian leader is reportedly sending out a newer tank release, roughly in the early 1950s, around the same age as Putin.

In the video shared by war blogger Dmitri on Twitter, one Russian local says the old tanks are "ancient like mammoth's crap." The other responded that the armored vehicle looked "fresh," but the other man said they were merely "painted into some weird color."

While some might view this move as a strategic brilliance, others are scratching their heads in disbelief. It remains to be seen how effective these old tanks will be against Ukraine's modern weapons. The T-55 tanks are vulnerable to anti-tank missiles, and they are also much slower than modern offerings.

As Popular Mechanics reports, Russia has been sending out old tankers not to use them as tanks. Instead, Putin is deploying the ancient technology to serve as armored artillery vehicles, wherein it fires their troop's distant targets.
