As per a report by Variety, Spears is now in a whirlwind of unexpected drama after her fan girl moment led to an alleged assault. The pop star alleges that she was slapped in the face by the security guard of Wembanyama in Las Vegas on Thursday night.

Spears took to Instagram to share her account of the incident. She writes, "Traumatic experiences are not new to me. I have had my fair share of them." But despite that, she says, "I was not prepared for what happened to me last night."

The pop icon narrates that she saw Wembanyama at a restaurant in Las Vegas. So she opted "to approach him and congratulate him on his success." However, upon doing so, Spears claims that one of the Spurs player's security "backhanded me in the face without looking back." The singer-songwriter adds that the smack almost knocked her down, "causing my glasses off my face."

She further notes that her fans swarm her constantly, including the day she approached the NBA star. However, she stresses that her "security team [did not] hit any of them."

Besides the IG post, Spears has already filed a police report, accusing a member of the NBA star's security detail of assaulting her. In her recent Instagram post, she thanked "the Las Vegas PD and detectives for their support."

According to Deadline, The Las Vegas Police confirmed that they have kicked off a "battery investigation" at the restaurant where the incident occurred. However, they say that they did issue any citations or arrests.

NBA's No.1 draft pick Wembanyama gave his version of the story. He told ESPN that "there was one person who was calling me." However, he states that his security told him they could not stop and that he should continue walking to avoid making a crowd.

The basketball sensation alleges that "that person grabbed" him from behind. He then says that he just "let security push her away." Yet, he admits he is unaware of how much force his security uses.

On the other hand, Spears refuted Wembanyama's narration of the incident. She claims that she merely tapped the basketball player on his shoulder.
