On Thursday, a Biden administration spokesman refused to rule out the possibility that Hunter Biden was the source of cocaine discovered at the White House.
The bag of cocaine discovered in the West Wing of the White House was located near the Situation Room and one floor below the Oval Office.
White House Cocaine Scandal
The dime-sized container of white powder was discovered on Sunday night in an entrance area cubby between a vestibule and a lobby, close to where some official vehicles park, including the vice presidential limousine and SUV, according to NBC News.
An official familiar with the matter previously told The NY Post that White House staff and visitors use the cubby to stow phones and personal objects not permitted in other areas of the complex.
The subterranean entrance to the West Wing is one of two and is located on the same floor as the Situation Room and White House Mess. The other entrance, located on the first floor, leads to a more formal foyer adjacent to the Roosevelt Room, Cabinet Room, and Oval Office.
According to NBC, the Secret Service investigation into who left the substance could conclude on Monday. The protective agency is analyzing visitor logs and security footage to determine who placed the cocaine in a "highly trafficked" area of the White House, as described by the White House.
According to multiple reports, this entails examining the container for fingerprints and DNA evidence. Guglielmi declined further comment on what he referred to as an ongoing investigation.
The discovery by a Secret Service agent conducting a routine patrol of the West Wing prompted a brief evacuation, and a DC hazardous team determined the powdery substance to be cocaine. An additional test conducted on Wednesday by investigators confirmed the presence of the substance.
President Biden and the first lady were not in Washington at the time of the incident, as they had departed for Camp David on Friday with Hunter.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates was queried about "pretty wild" statements by the former president, who claimed that cocaine found at the White House on Sunday belonged to the president or his son Hunter, who has admitted past illicit drug use but claims to be clean.
Bates responded, "I don't have a response because we must be mindful of the Hatch Act," referring to the law prohibiting government officials from engaging in partisan politics while performing official duties.
The Office of Special Counsel recently cautioned White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre against violating the law's complexities, even though she has frequently used it as a fallback in briefings.
Then, Bates attempted to turn the tables on the former president by using Trump's cocaine attack against him. He discussed employment growth in manufacturing and infrastructure investments, which President Biden will promote during his Thursday trip to South Carolina.
During her briefing on Wednesday, Jean-Pierre emphasized that Biden and his family spent Friday through Sunday at Camp David, as well as the number of individuals who had access to the area where the substance was discovered.
Trump responded to the news of cocaine at the Biden White House with a meandering social media post, reiterating the claims of other critics that the illegal substance belongs to the president's son Hunter.
Per Daily Mail, Trump also asserted in his Wednesday post to Truth Social that the media will attempt to minimize the discovery of drugs in the White House by denying laboratory results. The Secret Service continues its investigation into who transported the dime-sized bag of illegal narcotics onto White House grounds.
Hunter Biden Sniffing Video Goes Viral
Meanwhile, numerous conservative social media users have shared a video with claims that it depicts Hunter Biden "sniffing" an unidentified substance at the White House, although this is not apparent in the images. The unverified allegations surfaced shortly after the West Wing of the White House was evacuated following the discovery of cocaine.
Former communications adviser for Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Steve Guest, shared a video of the Biden family celebrating the Fourth of July at the White House and asked his followers to provide their own captions.
The tweet prompted several other Twitter users to share the video, with many speculating that it depicted Hunter Biden using cocaine. A source in the investigation previously told Newsweek that the cocaine was discovered in a West Wing "work area."
While officials never revealed who left the cocaine in the West Wing of the White House, several social media users quipped that it may have been Hunter Biden, who has previously acknowledged having a crack and cocaine addiction. A number of additional social media users suggested that the video may depict Hunter Biden using cocaine.
