Experts shared their opinions about the rise of AI girlfriends.

AI girlfriends are becoming more common across the globe. If you've watched the 2013 movie "Her," then you already know what happened if someone falls in love with an artificial intelligence.

But, can AI girlfriends really negatively affect human relationships?

According to The Guardian's latest report, AI girlfriends, such as Eva AI, are becoming more efficient when it comes to mimicking how humans interact with one another in romantic relationships.

Because of this, many people are concerned that artificial intelligence could feed the mind of other individuals with negative beliefs about gender-based control and violence.

Although AI girlfriends are helping lonely people know what it feels like to be in a relationship, these apps and software are something they can't control.

Experts warned that AI girlfriends can create unrealistic expectations for real human relationships.
Full Stop Australia's CEO Tara Hunter said that being able to create an artificial partner that can be controlled and meet every people's needs is frightening.

"Given what we know already that the drivers of gender-based violence are those ingrained cultural beliefs that men can control women, that is really problematic," added Hunter.

Recently, Business Insider reported that some individuals are marrying their AI girlfriends.

One of them is Akihiko Kondo, a self-professed fictosexual Japanese civil servant who married his AI-powered hologram girlfriend named Hatsune Miku.

However, AI partners can't really provide real love to their human counterparts.

Experts warned that no matter how good AI is when it comes to having a relationship with people, they are just algorithms, data, coding, mathematics, computing tech, and nothing more.

"When you strip AI back to the essentials, it's just a very good computer program," explained Maria Hennessy, an associate professor at the James Cook University in Singapore.

She added that this just means that artificial intelligence is just following codes. AI girlfriends or boyfriends can't really express desire or love toward human users.
