Taylor Swift's fans really had a great time during their idol's concert in Seattle. They enjoyed it so much that their dance generated vibrations as strong as a 2.3 magnitude earthquake.
Taylor Swift Fans' Dance Detected by Seismometer
According to Sky News' latest report, the vibrations made by Taylor Swift's fans were detected by a local seismometer.
Jackie Caplan-Auerbach, a volcanologist, said that the dance made Swifties stronger than the movements of Seahawks fans.
"I grabbed the data from both nights of the concert and quickly noticed they were clearly the same pattern of signals," she explained.
"If I overlay them on top of each other, they're nearly identical," added the Western Washington University geology professor.
However, she clarified that the data that his seismometer acquired may not be caused by the fans themselves, but by the sound systems used during the concert.
Although this is the case, the fact that Taylor Swift's concert in Seattle generated vibrations on par with a 2.3 magnitude earthquake is already impressive.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is not the only concert that shook the ground. In 2011, the Foo Fighters concert in New Zealand also generated vibrations similar to earthquakes.
The same thing happened in the 2022 Garth Brooks concert at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour
The Guardian reported that Taylor Swift's Eras tour concert happened at the Lumen Field in Seattle.
Over 144,000 fans attended the singer's concert on July 22 and July 23. Because of this, the Swift Eras Tour is considered to be one of the most expensive concerts; costing around $100 million or more.
Regarding the earthquake-like dance of her fans, local seismologists said that there's a chance that the upcoming Beyonce concert will exceed its record.
