'Heroes Reborn': Reboot Of NBC's Popular SciFi Series To Premiere In 2015, But Which Original Cast Members Will Return?

NBC's hit show "Heroes" will return in 2015 for a 13-episode standalone arc, the network announced.

The popular series about a group with supernatural powers starred Zachary Quinto, Hayden Panettiere, Ali Larter, Milo Ventigmiglia and Greg Grunberg. It had a show run from 2006 to 2010.

"The enormous impact 'Heroes' had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening," NBC Entertainment prexy Jennifer Salke said in a statement. "Shows with that kind of resonance don't come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We're thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won't rule out the possibility of some of the show's original cast members popping back in." "Heroes" is following the footsteps of another popular series, "24: Live Another Day". The FOX hit show followed the story of Jack Bauer and his assignments for Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU), located in Los Angeles, Calif. The show's executive Producer Howard Gordon recently spoke to IGN about the upcoming series reboot.

"Well, there were a couple of ideas running around. It's always about finding Jack Bauer's emotional center," Gordon told IGN, referring to how the inspiration for the story's reboot came about. "Look, the guy has a lot of scorched earth behind him as a character. It becomes increasingly hard to write for a character whose connection to the world and to other people is as spartan as his is."

"The people he's loved, his family, his wives and lovers are either dead or really messed up," he added. "But we sort of embraced the mythic aspect of Jack's character. The idea of him being a fugitive and also being somewhere else and wanting to come home felt like an emotional framework that we could work inside."

"24: Live Another Day" will premiere on FOX on May 12. The is no set release date for "Heroes Reborn" in 2015.
