Ukraine ordered a mass evacuation of thousands of Ukrainians as Russian troops push forward. Ukrainian officials announced the mandatory evacuation on Thursday, Aug. 10.
Mass Ukraine Evacuation Mandated as Russian Forces Intensify
According to Fox News' latest report, the mandatory evacuation affects nearly 12,000 civilians in Ukraine. These individuals are located in 37 towns and villages in the eastern Kharkiv region.
Ukrainian officials said that Russian forces in this region are intensifying as they make a concerted effort to push through the front line.
CNN World reported that some Ukrainian positions near the city were captured. This just shows that Russia's attacks in the country are getting serious.
Because of this, the local military administration in Kharkiv's Kupiansk district said that residents should follow the mandated evacuation.
But, they still expect that some people will choose to stay. Officials said that residents who will decline to leave the region need to sign a document confirming that they would stay at their own risk.

Latest Ukrainian Evacuation Is Large Scale
The latest evacuation in Ukraine is unusual since the Ukrainian government hasn't made one at this scale. Experts said that Ukrainian authorities have not mandated an evacuation as large as the one in the Kharkiv region since October 2022.
But, it has to be done to ensure the safety of residents against Russian forces.
Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov said that Russian troops massively shelled settlements of Kharkiv.
Aside from this district, the official said that Chuhuiv, Izium, and Kupyansk are also affected by guided aerial bombs and other attacks conducted by the Russian military.
There's a reason why Russia concentrates its attacks on Kupyansk. Military experts said that the Russian military wants to prevent Ukrainian troops from assisting Kyiv's counteroffensive.
"The number of enemy forces and means and its recent activation in this area of the front are aimed at trying to turn the tide in this section of the front," explained Ukrainian National Guard spokesman Ruslan Muzychuk.
