As per 9to5 Google, the recently launched Pixel Fold has been keeping a sonic secret, quietly ushering in a new era of auditory ecstasy. Google's foldable boasts an ingenious feature that has remained concealed - exceptional support for spatial audio for its built-in speakers.

A mobile phone's speaker is the last thing music lovers rely on to listen to their favorite songs. Most often, this built-in hardware sounds terrible, to say at least. However, if you are a Pixel Fold user, you get the immersive audio affair while merely playing tunes using its built-in speaker.

According to Android Police, an app researcher, Mishaal Rahman, recently discovered that Pixel Fold supports Spatial Audio on its speaker. A Google support page confirms that Pixel Fold's speakers supply Spatial audio. The tech giant notes that the built-in speaker support is exclusively available to its flagship foldable.

The support document says, "This feature makes your listening experience closer to the immersive engagement you get with headphones." Users may begin listening to them by heading to the Settings app. After which, select the "Sound & vibration" option and tap "Spatial audio." Then, toggle the "Phone speaker" option.

But what exactly is spatial audio, you ask? Well, imagine immersing yourself in a world where sound does not just come from one direction but envelops you from all sides. It is similar to listening to your favorite musical artist or group live, hearing the instruments and vocals in real life. It is an immersive experience, which some phone users need to catch up on.

The rave about Spatial Audio began when Apple dished out Spatial Audio on its iconic AirPods. The feature delivered a game-changing audio experience to its users, taking the capability of wireless earbuds to the next level.

Google quickly kept up with the iPhone maker. It rolled out a similar feature early this year, which goes by the exact name. A January 2023 patch delivered Spatial Audio to various Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. It enabled users to listen to immersive audio using a pair of wireless earbuds or wired headphones. And for the Pixel Fold, it expands to its tiny built-in speakers.
