New "Batman vs. Superman" rumors claim the production was delayed due to scheduling conflicts from signing Jesse Eisenbeg onto the cast.
The production team released a statement in January claiming the crew needed more time to "realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story." However, Eisenberg may have had a previous film engagement that overlapped with the "Man of Steel 2" production, which could have been the real reason for the movie's release delay.
"Jesse Eisenberg, the newly cast Lex Luthor, just began a five week shoot on a new movie titled The End of the Tour," Batman News reports. "Ironically, he's shooting that movie in Grand Rapids, MI... which is just a couple of hours away from Detroit, where a majority of Batman vs. Superman will be shot. While I'm sure it's not the only reason for the delay, the availability of the main villain would definitely throw a wrench into production, and give everyone the time needed to get the story right."
Fans are wary about Eisenberg being able to take on the role of Lex Luthor, but the backlash doesn't compare to what Ben Affleck is still dealing with. Actor Seth Green chimed in with his fanboy opinion during an interview on Ora TV's "Larry King Now".
"You have to remember that Batman is just a dude. He's got no powers. So the fact that Superman is scared of him says something about the gravitas he carries. And it's not just because he's willing to kill. It's because he's scary," Green explained to King.
When King came to Affleck's defense, calling him a great actor, Green retorted:
"There is only so much you can act a role before people are or are not going to believe you in that role. I'm never going to play a MMA fighter, because I'd step into the ring with an actual MMA fighter like Batista, and I wouldn't look correct, so there is a physicality of it."
