According to Newsweek's latest report, the Liberty Safe handed a gun locker code to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Aug. 30.

The safe code belongs to Nathan Hughes (34 years old), who has been charged with felony civil disorder, as well as other misdemeanors.

The charges that Hughes is facing are related to the January 6 U.S. Capitol attack in 2021. The Liberty Safe explained that it had to do this since the FBI had a warrant to search its property when it requested the access code.

"Our company protocol is to provide access codes to law enforcement if a warrant grants them access to a property," said the firearm locker manufacturer via its official X post.

It added that the FBI gave them proof of a valid warrant, leaving them with no option but to provide the gun safe access code.

Because of the gun safe access code scandal, Liberty Safe decided to allow its customers to have their firearm access code combinations expunged.

"Our company, one of America's oldest and largest safe manufacturers, was founded on the belief that Americans should have the fundamental right to protect and safeguard their valuables and property," said the company.

Sportskeeda reported that ring-wing supporters are now calling for a boycott against Liberty Safe. Many of them even gave the gun-safe manufacturer the nickname "Bud Light Safe Inc."

They said that Liberty Safe should also go through the boycott that Bud Light experienced after it collaborated with Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender social media influencer.

Some of the company's clients said that they were ready to cancel their orders. Meanwhile, others are willing to return the gun lockers they purchased from Liberty Safe.

Before Liberty Safe's explanation, one of its customers pointed out that the firearm locker maker didn't really receive an order from the FBI.

The individual claims that the FBI only provided a mere request, which the manufacturer quickly allowed. Because of this, gun owners are calling the company a traitor, saying that they should have fought the warrant instead of bending over to it.
