Baltimore: Morgan State University Shooting Leaves Four Wounded
According to The Guardian's latest report, the Baltimore Police Department said that their officers were on the scene of an "active shooter situation."
This means that suspects were trying to harm people despite the police being near their location.
"BPD is on the scene of an active shooter situation in the 1700 block of Argonne Drive. We're asking everyone to shelter in place and avoid the area," said the BPD via its official X post.
Three hours after the announcement, BPD officials confirmed that the incident was no longer an active shooter situation. They added that more details are expected to be provided once a media briefing happens.
Vernon Davis, BPD's spokesperson, said that at least four individuals were shot. Luckily, Amanda Krotki, another BPD spokeswoman, said that victims had non-life-threatening injuries.
Ryan Dorsey, a city council member, said that there are an estimated three shooters behind the Morgan State University shooting incident in Baltimore.
As of writing, their identities are still unknown and no arrests have been made so far. This means that the suspects are still at large.
More About Morgan State University Shooting
Baltimore television station WJZ-TV's award-winning journalist Kelsey Kushner said that the shooters were believed to be using a dorm room at Morgan State University.
She even provided an image of the window, which looks like it was broken because of gunshots. However, many netizens questioned the reliability of the information that Kelsey provided.
Some of them asked where she got the image and the sensitive details. Meanwhile, others suggested that the journalist should leave the investigation to the police authorities.
As of press time, the Baltimore Police Department is still investigating the incident to capture the shooting suspects. What BPD asks for residents in the area is to take shelter temporarily and avoid the south entrance to the campus.
